Recovering from the effects of surgery or an injury often requires
special consideration and a temporary lifestyle change. Our services
cover a range of needs from assessment to treatment, physical to psychological
care, and prevention through education. These services are also available
at Holland Home communities.
Physical therapy delivers care for restoring and maximizing
function, including ambulation, transfers, balance, endurance,
lower extremity strength/range of motion, client/caregiver education,
and the reduction of pain—all within the patient's
home setting.
The Physical Therapy team consists of licensed Physical Therapists
(PT) and associate degreed Physical Therapist Assistants (PTA).
Occupational therapy delivers care for maximizing function,
including bathing, dressing, grooming, home management, equipment
use, upper extremity strength/range of motion, cardiac rehabilitation,
client/caregiver education, and the reduction of pain—all
within the patient's home setting.
The Occupational Therapy team consists of registered Occupational
Therapists (OTR) and Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants
(COTA).
Speech therapy progresses speech, cognitive skills, oral motor strength,
and ability to chew and swallow foods effectively without aspiration.
These services can include the following: alternative communication techniques
or devices, addressing cognitive limitations, exercise programs for improving
vocalization, chewing, and swallowing, determining safe food and liquid
consistencies, and client/caregiver education. In addition, the speech
therapist can also recommend further radiographic assessment for patient
safety.
Speech Language Pathologists (SLP) are certified professionals holding
a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech/Language
and Hearing Association.
