Faith Hospice recognizes the vital role that churches and faith communities play in providing spiritual, social, and emotional support to their congregations and to the local community. Hospice care is an extension of the faith community’s ministry to person facing life-limiting illness. The Watchman Ministry is a way to bridge the needs of the faith community with the specialized services Hospice provides. The goal of the Watchman Ministry is to ensure awareness and understanding about Hospice through education and training. Each faith community is invited to identify at least one representative to serve as a Watchman within his or her congregation. Faith Hospice will provide ongoing education and information to prepare each Watchman Representative to be a knowledgeable spokesperson and to serve as a liaison between Hospice and the congregation.
Being part of the Watchman Ministry is an exciting local mission opportunity. Being a Watchman Representative is a calling. You will be the “eyes and ears” for your congregation and the local community. The Watchman Representative is responsible for conveying the needs of the church family to Hospice and is ready to answer the congregation’s questions about Hospice services and volunteer opportunities. By your active participation, you will ”Light Your World and ensure that your congregation is adequately informed about Hospice and provide a direct and timely link to services as those needs arise.
