Using the Holland Home VPN on Mac OS X

Note: You must must be running Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later.

Installing the Remote Desktop Connection

1. First, download the Remote Desktop disk image. If necessary, double-click the downloaded disk image to open it. Double-click the Remote Desktop Connection folder, and click and drag the Remote Desktop Connection icon to your Applications folder, like this:
   
2. You can now eject and delete the Remote Desktop disk image.

Setting up the VPN

1. To set up the Holland Home VPN, double-click the Internet Connect icon in your Applications folder:
   
2. In Internet Connect, go to the File menu and select New VPN Connection. You will see the following prompt:
   
3. Ensure that PPTP is selected, and click the Continue button.
4. Click the pull-down menu next to Configuration and select Edit Configurations:
   
5. On the next screen that appears, fill in the information as shown here, making sure to put your username and passwork in the Account Name and Password fields (e.g. replace the text that says your-username-here):
   
6. Click the OK button. The VPN screen should now look like this:
   
7. You will also notice that there is a new icon in your menu bar next to the clock. From now on, you can use this menu item instead of launching Internet Connect. Click the VPN icon and select Connect to connect to the Holland Home VPN:
   
8. You are now connected to the Holland Home VPN. Note: While you are connected to the VPN, your regular Web and e-mail access will not be accessible. Only Holland Home information can be accessed while connected to the VPN.

Using Remote Desktop Connection

1. After you connect to the VPN, open the Remote Desktop Connection application in your Applications folder:
   
2. The first time you use Remote Desktop Connection, you will need to configure it. First, in the Computer field, you need to type the name of the facility you work at, followed by .hollandhome.org. The facility names are Corporate, Raybrook, Fulton, Breton, and Hospice. So if you work at the Raybrook facility, type Raybrook.hollandhome.org in the Computer field.
3. Next, click the arrow next to Options, which gives you additional configuration options. Fill in the information as shown here, making sure to put your username and passwork in the Account Name and Password fields (e.g. replace the text that says your-username-here):
   
4. Next, click the Display tab. Fill in the information as shown here:
   
5. You can now click the Connect button to connect to the server. When you are done working on the server, go to the Remote Desktop Connection screen and select Quit. When you are done working on the VPN, click the VPN icon in the menu bar and select Disconnect.
